A sculptural little dish shaped by shells, sand and the softly weathered edges of the shore.
A one-of-a-kind ceramic dish inspired by the natural spirals, layered contours and warm, weathered tones found along the coastline.
Its flowing outer form curls gently around a raised inner bowl, creating two distinct spaces within a single sculptural piece. A soft dolomite-white glaze is complemented by earthy carbon oxide detailing, which gathers around the textured rims and outer surface like sand caught within the markings of a shell.
Smaller than its blue-toned counterpart, this tactile piece is both decorative and practical. It may be used for olives, nuts, sweets, dips or small accompaniments, or as a special place for jewellery, trinkets, soap and other little treasures. It may also hold a small candle within a suitable heat-safe container.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
This piece has been individually hand-built from ceramic clay, with the outer dish and raised inner bowl carefully shaped and joined by hand.
Its distinctive finish has been created through a layered decorative process using dolomite-white glaze and carbon oxide, applied by hand to enhance the organic contours and tactile edges of the piece. It has then been kiln-fired to develop its softly mottled colour, depth and gently reflective surface.
As the materials respond naturally during firing, the precise markings, tones and surface variations cannot be controlled or exactly repeated.
Important handmade note and advisory
This piece has been formed, textured, decorated and glazed entirely by hand. Natural differences in shape, rim height, colour, glaze movement and surface texture are an intentional part of its character.
Areas of mottling, glaze pooling, speckling and uneven texture are not faults, but evidence of the handmade process and the individual response of the materials during firing.
Due to its sculptural form and raised inner section, the piece should be handled with care and should not be stacked beneath heavier tableware. Colours may also appear slightly different depending on lighting and the screen on which they are viewed.

Care
Food safe. Handwashing only is advised to preserve the textured glaze and handmade finish.
Wash gently using warm water, a mild detergent and a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads and sharp utensils that may scratch or mark the surface.
Do not expose the piece to direct heat or sudden changes in temperature. Handle the raised inner section and textured, irregular rims carefully when washing, carrying or storing.
When used with a candle, place a small container candle or suitable heat-safe holder within the dish rather than allowing a flame to burn directly against the ceramic.
